Olympus Pen E-P1 reviews

I have an unnatural lust for the Olympus Pen E-P1 and have spent too much time tracking down reviews of this vintage throwback, which goes on sale this week. The new micro four thirds camera borrows its styling from Olympus Pen range cameras of the 1960s and 70s. With a 12.3 megapixel sensor and interchangeable lenses this beauty is compact enough to serve as an alternative to a DSLR for anyone wanting to travel light.

I've linked several Olympus E-P1 reviews below, and here is a summary of the camera's pros and cons from what I've read:

Pros:

  • Retro-cool styling
  • Smalll form factor easily fits in a jacket pocket
  • Great picture quality
  • 720p HD video looks fantastic

Cons:

  • LCD is difficult to see in bright sunlight
  • Sound of the autofocus motor gets captured when shooting video
  • Price: $799 with a kit lense
  • No through the lens viewfinder
  • No built-in flash
