I wish I were here: New York City's High Line park is open June 09 2009
Photo by Iwan BaanNew York City's High Line park opened to the public yesterday following a ribbon cutting ceremony. The High Line is probably one of the most unique parks anywhere in the world. It sits on an abandoned, elevated railway bed that was built in the 1930s to get dangerous trains of off city streets. The High Line is on Manhattan's West Side and runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues. The first section of the park that opened Monday runs from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street.
