Toy ray guns of the world July 08 2009
The collection of toy ray guns at Justin Pinchot's site is our latest addition to the Gallery of Galleries. Pinchot's has a vast collection of toy guns from the 1930s-60s, including specimens from the United States, Japan and Europe. More than just pretty pictures, the site features specific details about each gun. For instance, on the Atomic Flash pistol shown here he writes: "A lithographed tin sparking ray gun made by J. Chein & Co. around 1955. Chein was one of the biggest makers of American tin toys in the 1940s and 1950s, and the Atomic Flash has an architypical 50s look with its smooth aerodynamic styling and sweeping fin. Length 7.5 inches"
