This illustration of the Brooklyn Bridge was published in 1873, three years after construction of the bridge was begun, but well before its completion in 1883. The bridge was not officially named the Brooklyn Bridge by New York City until 1915, thus the name on the print reads East River Bridge. One shore on the print reads 'Brooklyn' and the other 'New York.' Additional text on the print reads: 'Engineer John A. Roebling.'
