A detail of the Keyhole Nebula photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope. This photo from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope is of a portion of the Carina Nebula known as the Keyhole Nebula. It was composed by combining four unique pointings of the Hubble's camera at the nebula using six color filters. The image is dominated by a large, nearly circular feature that consists of bright, hot, flourescing gas and dark clouds of cold molecules and dust. Several bright stars can be seen in the image, as well as a striking pillar of dust in the upper left edge of the photo.
