Liberty Enlightening the World. This vintage poster from 1883 commemorates the construction of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. The poster reads: "Only Officially Authorized Edition. Liberty Enlightening the World. The Colossal Statue by Bartholdi. Presented by the French People to America. As it will appear on its pedestal on Bedloes Island in New York Harbor."
The print has reproduced signatures of sculpture Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, pedestal architect Richard Morris Hunt and the Chairman of the Executive Committee Joseph W. Dresel.
