Danse du Scalp Des Indiens Meunitarris

New in our gallery and store: This engraving by Swedish artist Karl Bodmer shows a ceremonial dance of a large gorup of Hidatsa Indians, c. 1840. Text on the print reads, "Scalptanz der Mönnitarris. Danse du Scalp Des Indiens Meunitarris." Translated as, "Scalp Dance of the Moennitarris."  Bodmer traveled in the American West from 1832 to 1834 with German explorer Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied on his Missouri River expedition.
